IRM Introduces New Commercial Auto Insurance Program

Innovative Risk Management (IRM) has launched a new commercial auto insurance program for the trucking and commercial auto industry.
The new program, All Vehicle Event Recorder Technology (AVERT), offers coverage for general liability, auto liability and auto physical damage.
This national program is underwritten by Nova Casualty Company, and will be managed by Programs Plus and distributed by RSI Insurance Brokers.
Stuart Stagner, President of IRM, said: “This is truly a unique product designed to imbed advanced technology into the insurance product with the objective of helping clients reduce losses, which will in turn lower their costs both from an insurance and operational standpoint.”
IRM is a risk management consulting company with focus on specialty insurance programs and alternative risk management solutions.

Oil rose to above $66 a barrel for the first time since November
Oil prices hit a fresh six-month high, buoyed by falling US stockpiles, amid signs the US economy is not shrinking as fast as people thought. US light crude for July delivery climbed $1.23 to close Friday trading at $66.31 a barrel. A Commerce Department report on first quarter GDP showed a 5.7% contraction - revised down from an initial 6.1% fall. On Thursday, the Energy Information Administration said US oil supplies had dropped for the third week in a row. Also on Thursday, Opec oil ministers decided to keep output unchanged, amid optimism that prices are set to rise. The Saudi oil minister predicted prices will reach $75 this year. "We've got a lot more optimism about the economic outlook than we did," said Toby Hassall, an analyst with Commodity Warrants Australia in Sydney. "The market is factoring in a recovery in demand by the end of the year.

Nepal marks first Republic Day

Nepal's first Republic Day is being observed Friday throughout the nation with various programmes, exactly one year after the Constituent Assembly declared Nepal a republic, ending the 240 years old monarchy.
The first sitting of CA had declared Nepal Federal Democratic Republic on May 29, 2008, making the country the newest republic in the world. In 2006 April, a mass uprising for nineteen days had forced the last king of Nepal, Gyanendra Shah, to relinquish power.
To mark the first Republic Day, a special function was organised at the army pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu, which was attended by President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Vice-President Parmananda Jha, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and other dignitaries including representatives of foreign diplomatic missions.
The government had declared the day as a public holiday.
Meanwhile, in his message to the nation on the occasion, President Yadav urged everyone to cooperate in reaching the goals and conceded the first year of the republican order was not very easy.
"The chief goal for now is the completion of peace process and new constitution," he said, "The Republican set up will be strong only after we attain those goals."
Vice-president Jha, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and other political leaders also issued messages to the nation on the occasion of the Republic Day.
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in his message called for institutional development of republicanism.
Meanwhile, PM Nepal has laid the foundation stone of the Republic monument to be constructed at Ratna Park early Friday morning. A special function is being organised at Tundikhel in the afternoon to commemorate the first Republic day.
